Great Room Makeover

Large spaces are "great" but it doesn't automatically make it a "great" room. This project before and after is a perfect example. It has everything: abundant space, southern exposure, large windows, high ceiling, and a fireplace. But the before space was absolutely dreadful. The colors were anemic, the carpet would show any dirt spot made by the kids and dog, and the layout was not conversational.

I began the makeover with a furniture layout to illustrate that the space could accommodate a large seating area and separate dining area.

Once the layout was accepted we went shopping. My client received the dining table and chairs from a friend so we used that as the starting point of the style.

Custom cabinets were installed on each side of the fireplace to house an entertainment center on one side and a bar area on the other. This streamlined the space, added a nice detail, and provided storage.

I coordinated the painting and carpeting of the space, supplied the cabinets through my cabinet line Kahle's Kitchen, and selected the furniture through a local store. It was completed effortlessly for my client as I managed the whole project from start to finish.
